Brent Butt has long been considered one of the funniest people in Canada, with a career in stand-up comedy that stretches into five decades, including numerous appearances at major festivals in multiple countries and being voted Best Male Stand-Up in Canada by his peers in the profession.
BRENT BUTT has made his home in Vancouver for thirty years, but was born and raised in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. After high school he worked as a drywaller, salesperson, comic book artist, and darkroom technician before deciding to pursue his real dream, and in February of 1988, Butt performed stand-up comedy for the first time on an amateur night at a Saskatoon comedy club. He is now considered one of the funniest people in Canada, with a career in stand-up comedy that stretches into five decades. He also created and starred in two successful sitcoms – CORNER GAS (“Funniest Show on TV” as voted by TV Guide Readers, currently in 60 countries) and HICCUPS (multiple Leo and Writers Guild Awards). When you add in two theatrical comedy films (NO CLUE, CORNER GAS: THE MOVIE) and four seasons of an animated TV spinoff, it may seem surprising that Brent’s new venture has taken a rather dark turn.
Brent has written his debut novel – an intense, gritty psychological thriller called HUGE. The story follows three comedians on a rough run of shows through a remote stretch of rural countryside, as their priorities shift from getting laughs to fighting for their lives.
Brent will be interviewed by Neil Crone – Canadian actor, voice artist, comedian, writer, and motivational speaker.
A veteran of the world-famous Second City comedy troupe, Neil Crone has appeared in countless movies, TV shows, cartoons, and commercials. He is probably best known however for portraying Fred Tupper in Little Mosque on the Prairie and Jerry Whitehall in Cube 2: Hypercube, but is also recognized for appearances in such works as New York Minute. Hollywoodland, It (2017), American Psycho 2: All American Girl, Murdoch Mysteries, Endlings, and The Red Green Show.
