The Book Drunkard Literary Festival

A perfect literary pairing for the spookiest season of the year—Halloween, el Día de los Muertos, and the US election. Carmen Maria Machado followed up her incredible short story collection, Her Body and Other Parties, with 2019’s In The Dream House, a groundbreaking memoir about domestic abuse wherein each chapter is driven by a different narrative trope. Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s Mexican Gothic, a brilliant reimagining of the classic gothic suspense novel, makes use of some of the same tropes—most notably the haunted house. Book Drunkards got lost in the labyrinth of these two extraordinary books with both authors, who were in conversation with editor extraordinaire Haley Cullingham.

Tickets included a signed copy of either In the Dream House or Mexican Gothic.
