To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lucy Maud Montgomery, The Book Drunkard Festival is hosting two new picture book author/illustrators at Blue Heron Books.
This free, family-friendly event features storytime, crafts and refreshments – all to honour our national, and, local treasure; Maud penned 11 of her 22 novels in nearby Leaskdale.
The Book Drunkard Festival borrows its name from one of Maud’s famed quotes, “I am simply a book drunkard”
Our guests are Catherine Little and Janet Reid-Wilson.
Anne of the Library-on-the-Hill, honours LMM and is a tribute to librarians. Author Catherine Little will be on hand to read the book and create bookmarks with the children.
Maud of Green Gables explores the intertwined legacies of Anne Shirley’s world and LM Montgomery’s life. Janet Reid-Wilson’s extraordinary new illustrations depict a more realistic Anne, true to Montgomery’s sparkly heroine.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Blue Heron Books was first opened in 1989. The Blue Heron Studio offers a creative space for learning, playing and a multitude of unique experiences.
