The Book Drunkard Literary Festival

Attendees joined Terry Fallis and award-winning journalist Ted Barris to celebrate the return of accidental MP Angus McLintock, in Operation Angus. This event featured special guest Kenneth Welsh recounting his experiences as the endearing (but crusty) Angus.

Operation Angus is the long-awaited follow-up to The Best Laid Plans and The High Road–a comic spy story that heralds the return of Angus McLintock, the accidental member of parliament who dares to do the unthinkable: tell the truth!

A two-time winner of the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, Terry Fallis is the award-winning author of six national bestselling novels, including his latest, One Brother Shy, all published by McClelland & Stewart. The Best Laid Plans was the winner of the Leacock Medal for Humour in 2008, and CBC’s Canada Reads in 2011. It was adapted as a six-part television miniseries (starring our own Ken Welsh!) as well as a stage musical.

Ted Barris is an award-winning journalist, author and broadcaster. He regularly writes in the national media and has hosted many CBC Radio network programs and shows on TV Ontario. His eighteen bestselling non-fiction books include Rush to Danger, Dam Busters, Juno, Behind the Glory, Deadlock in Korea, Victory at Vimy and Breaking the Silence. His book The Great Escape: A Canadian Story won the 2014 Libris Award Non-Fiction Book of the Year.

Operation Angus finds accidental member of parliament Angus McLintock re-elected and, alongside his trusty Chief of Staff Daniel, at the centre of an assassination attempt uncovered by MI6. The only problem? No one in Ottawa will take them, or their top-secret intelligence, seriously. This is a madcap cloak-and-dagger adventure with humour and heart that will delight and entertain readers until the very last page.

Attendees joined Terry Fallis, Kenneth Welsh and Ted Barris for a delightful evening– and for all we know, an insight into our future election as well!

Tickets included a copy of Operation Angus.
