A Thrilling Evening with Linden MacIntyre (2021)

Linden MacIntyre is a Blue Heron Books favourite – our readers cannot get enough of his work! You’ll know him for The Wake, Giller Prize Winner The Bishop’s Man, Why Men Lie and many more! A distinguished broadcast journalist, MacIntyre, who was born in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland, and grew up in Port Hastings, Cape Breton, spent twenty-four years as the co-host of the fifth estate. He has won ten Gemini awards for his work. MacIntyre lives in Toronto with his wife, CBC radio host and author Carol Off. They spend their summers in a Cape Breton village by the sea.

Dr. Wendy O’Brien is a celebrated philosopher, teacher and interviewer. With over 30 years experience teaching in post-secondary education, she’s given talks and led seminars on creativity, beauty and wonder at Humber College, Oxford University, Harvard, The Art Gallery of Ontario, The Women’s Art Association, Classical Pursuits and The International Festival of Authors. Her knowledge, years of experience, sense of humour and focus on experiential learning, has led her to be a sought after leader and speaker, and we are thrilled to have her joining us for another author event!

The Winter Wives follows Byron and Allen, old university friends, as they get together for a weekend of golfing, and during a long night of drinking, the fault lines between them start to show. In one traumatic moment, Allan loses control of his life, and Byron has to suddenly confront his own weaknesses and strengths, his tangled relationship with Allan and the Winter sisters–both the one he married and the one he thought was the love of his life. No one will anticipate the lengths to which Byron will go to make sense of his life.
