Attendees joined internationally-acclaimed playwright Jordan Tannahill as he discussed his new, psychological thriller The Listeners with Heather O’Neill.

A propulsive literary page-turner about a family torn apart by a mother’s obsession with a sound that no one else can hear, The Listeners is a novel you won’t be able to put down!

Jordan Tannahill is an internationally acclaimed playwright who was born in Ottawa and is currently based in London, England. CBC Arts named him as “one of sixty-nine LGBTQ Canadians, living or deceased, who has shaped the country’s history.” He is a regular columnist on CBC Radio’s The Next Chapter.

Heather O’Neill is a novelist, short-story writer and essayist. Her most recent bestselling novel, The Lonely Hearts Hotel, won the Paragraphe Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction and was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction and CBC’s Canada Reads. She has won CBC’s Canada Reads and the Danuta Gleed Award. Born and raised in Montreal, O’Neill lives there with her daughter.

Jordan’s new novel, The Listeners is an electrifying novel that treads the thresholds of faith, conspiracy and mania. Compelling and exhilarating, it forces us to consider how strongly we hold on to what we perceive, and the way different views can tear a family apart.

Interviewed by Heather O’Neill, Jordan Tannahill discussed this new novel in what was surely a thrilling afternoon!
