Do I need to buy tickets to attend the festival events?

Yes, all events require a ticket. Most events include the author’s book, and an exclusive ZOOM link to the event. In-person book launches are free to attend and books will be on sale at the events. Please refer to each event description for pricing and information as to what the event pricing includes.



How do I buy tickets?

Easy! There are two ways. Purchase on-line at or simply call our ticket hotline at 905-852-6522 from 8:30 am – 8:30 pm Monday – Saturday. Please leave a message if your call is not answered directly and we will be sure to call you back promptly!



What is your refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable.



Can I buy books?

Yes, indeed! Almost all the 2021 events include the author’s book. In addition, you can order any of the author’s other books on or by visiting the store in person. Always check the website for current Covid-19 protocols.



Do I need to read the book ahead of time?

Absolutely NOT! In fact, we find it’s far better to attend the event and then be inspired by the discussion to read the book!



Will there be any souvenir merchandise for sale?

Yes, there will. There will be Book Drunkard book bags, t-shirts, and beer! With the exception of the alcohol, all items will be on hand at Blue Heron Books all year round. The Book Drunkard beer is available at The Second Wedge Brewing Co. seasonally in October, while supplies last.



What forms of payment are accepted?

All forms of payment are accepted, with the exception of American Express.



What if I can’t connect to the ZOOM link on the date and time?

It’s really easy to connect to Zoom. Just follow the link that we will provide the day before the event, input the password that we send you, and enjoy a glass of your favourite beverage during the event. You can connect via your cell phone or iPad if you download the Zoom app first, or via your laptop just by following the link. We haven’t experienced any major technical difficulties thus far. If you get kicked out for whatever reason, just follow the link again like the tenacious literary person that you are! Worst case scenario, the event will be recorded so you’ll be able to catch up on any bits that you missed due to technical glitches.



What if I have a last-minute change of plans and can’t attend the Live stream event?

Don’t worry! Each event will be recorded and you’ll be sent a link to the recording the day after the event so you’ll be able to watch it at your convenience, ensuring you don’t miss a scintillating moment!



Can I forward any questions I have about the book or for the author, in advance of the event?

Absolutely! Reach out to us at and we will try and get it answered for you! Please note that the likelihood of your question being answered depends on the number of questions we receive.



Is there a limit to the number of tickets sold?

Should we have an event that exceeds the ZOOM limit we will upgrade our service to accommodate.



How do I pick up/receive my book(s) or any other merchandise?

Pickup of all books and merchandise is at Blue Heron Books, 62 Brock St W, Uxbridge



What if I live in Regina or Thunder Bay or Victoria (or anywhere not Uxbridge!). How do I get my books?

We are easily able to include our friends and supporters from afar! Sign-up for any events that you are interested in and your books will be shipped to you. Please note that your books MAY NOT arrive in advance of the event, but may be savoured after you have gotten to know the author and the backstory. There will be a nominal delivery charge for the shipment of the books which will depend on where you are in the world.



Is there always just one book involved with an event?

In the case of a two (or three) author event you are offered the choice of one or the other author’s book. However, you are most welcome to buy all the books, for the cover price of the additional book(s). There is also one event (Ann Patchett) where you are offered the choice to buy a variety of Ann’s books to gain entry to the event.



What if I want to buy 2 books, but only need one event link?

Easy! You will be charged for the event (which includes one book) and then, an additional book.



Is there a date deadline for purchasing?

We will cut-off purchasing two nights before the event so that the administrator can send participants the email with the ZOOM link the night before the event.



How can I gift a flight (package)? Or a single event?

That’s simple! If ordering on-line, tell us the name of the participant and their email address in the special instructions section of the online order. Or give us a quick call on our ordering hotline: 905-852-6522 and we’ll be happy to help you out!



What is the protocol for in-person events?

This year we are pleased to offer two in-person book launches at Blue Heron Books. To avoid disappointment, please RSVP by purchasing a free ticket through as these events have a maximum capacity. As per Ontario’s COVID-19 reopening plan, masks are required throughout the event. Please note that these events are subject to change due to Ontario’s COVID-19 protocols. Please check our website for updates closer to the events.



Could I be considered as an author/presenter?

The festival line-up is a highly curated one and established well in advance of the announcement of the lineup. We work closely with our publisher partners to ensure the program is balanced and appealing to all.
