Where is Uxbridge?

Uxbridge is a town 70 km NE of Toronto. We offer a map and more specific directions here: Uxbridge on Google Maps

 

Is there parking?

There are 10 venues associated with the festival. All of them have parking lots with the exception of Blue Heron Studio and the Uxbridge Music Hall. For any events held at Blue Heron Studio (rear of Blue Heron Books) there is municipal parking across the street from Blue Heron Books. The Music Hall has a large municipal lot a block away as well as street parking available. All parking is free.

 

Is the festival wheelchair accessible?

All venues are wheelchair accessible. As some of the venues are very old buildings space may be somewhat restricted. We do offer courtesy seating – for anyone with mobility challenges, physical disabilities, hearing or vision issues.  If you have a particular concern, please call Blue Heron Books at 905-852-4282.

 

Do I need to buy tickets to attend festival events?

As events tend to sell out, we highly recommend tickets in advance. However, if tickets are available, we will sell at the door.

 

What is your refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable.

 

Is there ever reserved seating?

With the exception of events held at the Uxbridge Music Hall, all events are General Admission.

 

Can I buy books?

Yes, indeed! All authors’ book will be available at their event. Signing is limited to those books purchased at the event.

 

Will there be any souvenir merchandise for sale?

Yes, there will. There will be Book Drunkard book bags, journals, t-shirts, beer and cider! With the exception of the alcohol, all items will be on hand at each event of the festival and at Blue Heron Books all year round. The Book Drunkard beer is available at The Second Wedge Brewing Co. and various event venues. The Cider House Rules cider is available at Slabtown Cider Co. and various event venues.

 

What forms of payment are accepted?

All forms of payment are accepted, with the exception of American Express.

 

Can I volunteer?

Volunteers are always welcomed! If you are interested, please contact Blue Heron Books at 905-852-4282.

 

Could I be considered as an author/presenter?

The festival line-up is a highly curated one, and established well in advance of the announcement of the lineup. We work closely with our publisher partners to ensure the program is balanced and appealing to all.

 

May I get food or drink at events?

Food is served and is included in the ticket price for the Sunday brunches, the Urban Pantry event and The Historic Leaskdale Church event. Some evening events generally have a bar service and some also offer snacks.
